10. The Yangtze River Basin, China
The Yangtze River basin is home to a wide variety of animal and plant species, such as the giant panda or the Baiji, commonly known as the “Chinese dolphin”. Massive industrialization and continuous traffic of large cargo ships have made it one of the most polluted rivers in the world. At the same time, agricultural development has led to the disappearance of most of the forests that bordered it, as well as the disappearance of all the aminals that lived there.
